USDOT (United States Department of Transportation) requires a United States DOT Number be related to each side of all Commercial Vehicles (Any trucks going beyond 10,001 pounds) that is understandable from 50 feet (2" tall in a contrasting color) and in a legible copy or font.

Also lots of Commercial Vehicles have other essential numbers that they are needed to apply as a decal or sticker label to each side of their Commercial Vehicle. These "Numbers" consist of KYU Numbers (Kentucky per mile tax), ICC Numbers (Interstate Authority ), MC Numbers (Motor Carrier Authority) EW Numbers (Empty Weight) and/or GW Numbers (Gross Weight) and each specific truck's VIN (Vehicle Identification Number) plus numerous other special state numbers.
