The Super 400 CES is Gibsons top-of-the-line acoustic arch top, and features an 18 wide body with soled maple back and sides and a craved spruce top. Introduced in 1951 along with the L-5 CES, the Super 400 initially featured two P-90 pickups but changed to hum bucking pickups in 1957. The cutaway was rounded (Venetian), but changed to a pointed (Florentine) cutaway in 1961. The body features multi-bound f-holes, top, back, fingerboard and peg head. The ebony fretboard features a split block inlay and the peg head features a 5-piece split diamond pearl inlay. My custom shop Super 400 CES has a blue robins egg lacquer finish.
